Deep Age Clock

A longer-than-usual trip to the west coast, but my sister Wende stayed at our house to take care of mom's laundry and provide TLC to our 2 cats. We both went to visit mom on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and she seems to be doing well. She reports feeling "funny", but that's not much to go on.

A visit to the Chute is a major way to slow down time. After a jam-packed week - a day-long flight to San Francisco, a day-long meeting with our publisher, a night drive to Yosemite, 3 days in a Landmark program, the drive back to San Fran, and a day-long flight home - I was running on adrenaline. Sitting in mom's social circle with 6 other ladies plus the Activities Lady stopped the clock. Really - I noticed the clock hands never seemed to move, even though we sat there forever, either saying something or struggling to think of something to say.

The most excitement of the visit was that one resident, Vergie, who is 98 or something, slumped over so far at the lunch table that her head was almost in the soup bowl in front of her. I called an aide to save her from drowning.

Back to my real world after 40 long minutes.
